The story so far...

Barenaked Ladies are a five piece Canadian pop-rock band. They formed in the late eighties when Ed Robertson and Steven Page joined forces and began writing and recording together. Their first musical success was the now legendary Yellow Tape, a five track independent release which went gold in their home country and helped secure them a major record deal.

Their debut album Gordon quickly followed in 1992 and announced the band's arrival to the rest of the world. It was received to critical acclaim and enjoyed moderate commercial success. The band pursued a gruelling recording and touring schedule throughout the nineties, racking up five studio albums and a live CD by the year 2000.

During this period the band established a loyal fanbase, achieved in the main by their energetic live shows and inimitable sideways take on the world. Although they have never been considered 'cool' to listen to, BNL briefly found themselves in tune with radio playlists and managed to score a Billboard # 1 hit with their single 'One Week'.

A greatest hits package and (very) brief hiatus followed at the beginning of the millenium before the BNL machine kicked back into action proper in 2003 with the release of new material. In 2006 they departed company with Reprise Records and issued Barenaked Ladies Are Me on their own Desperation Records label.

2008 looks set to be their busiest year yet. As well as celebrating their 20th anniversary, the band are intending to release two new studio albums (a children's album plus a follow up to BLAM), and will be taking to the seas for another Ships & Dip cruise followed by a full tour sometime in the Autumn.
